Emilio Murillo (1880-1952), composer, pianist, treble player.
Great musician and promoter of Colombian folk music. Among his many compositions, perhaps the best known are The mill, Gualanday, The guatecano, Bogota Nights and Rumichaca.
He founded the Academy in which Murillo was taught music for free. He received many awards. In 1935 he was awarded the Cross of Boyaca.
Some historians place his birthplace in Guateque. Others say he was born in Bogotá.
Orlando "Cholo" Valderrama, composer and singer.
It is one of the best known performers of plains music. In Venezuela he was named "Florentino de Oro" Honoris Causae prize. Born in Sogamoso in 1951.
Jorge Veloza, composer and singer.
Great promoter of folk music of Boyacá. Group Director Carrangueros Ráquira, applauded throughout the country. Veloza Ráquira born in 1953.

Mauricio Soler, cyclist.
Champion mountain in the Tour de France in 2007 Champion of the Vuelta a Burgos 2007.
In his first participation in the most important international competition cycling, young rider won the toughest tours of competition.
Soler was born in 1983 in Ramiriquí.
Nairo Quintana, cyclist.
Champion of the 2014 Giro d'Italia is the first Colombian to win important cycling competition. He was second in the Tour de France 2013 also received the sweater the better runner lunar mountains and white sweater for best young rider.
He trained as a rider the club Editions Sea and entered the Boyacá team.
In 2010 he won the Tour de l'Avenir with Café de Colombia Colombia team is passion. He received the President of Colombia Cruz sporting merit.
He won prizes mountain of the Tour of Catalonia in 2011 then entered the Movistar Team World Tour. In 2012 he was the winner in the Tour of Murcia.
